Welcome to Survival Arabic! This site is meant to help people who are visiting Egypt or the Middle East become acquainted with some helpful expressions used in daily life, and later be able to use them. We hope you will find the site easy to use, and that you will enjoy it, too.

The site consists of two components:
1.   The language itself, used for communication. This is presented in seperate situations, all in the spoken Arabic of Cairo.
2.   Cultural notes which help understand some customs and habits of the Egyptian society, and certain words that have special connotations.

There is also a glossary from English to Arabic of some important vocabulary terms. In addition, you are given some exercises that will help you practice important expressions.
